This week, Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii began circulating a sign-on letter in the Senate regarding the need for increased funding to combat viral hepatitis and opioid-related infectious diseases.
This letter will be sent to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, requesting that the Fiscal Year 2020 appropriations bill includes $134 million for viral hepatitis programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and include $58 million to fully fund resources included in the recently passed SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act to eliminate opioid-related infectious diseases
The deadline for Senators to sign on to this letter is Wednesday, April 10th.
Please email and/or call your Senators before April 10th and urge them to sign on!
